How 7 different people spent their holiday in Bol and felt in love?

Last summer Grega gathered his closest friends and decided to spend the main part of the summer holidays in Bol.

The 7 of us had so different priorities for this summer vacation in Croatia that is seemed almost impossible to make it work flawlessly and keep everybody happy.

The couple Grega and Elena was in the romantic mood, since Elena just found out that she is pregnant so any extreme adventures and drinking parties were out of question.

Simon and Kevin on the other side couldn’t wait to have fun, excitement, sports and party of course, and if possible, to meet some girls.

Samantha was being orientated towards having some fun and lots of girls’ talk, shopping, cocktails and dancing. The other couple, Stefan and me, were also in a challenging situation, since I officially didn’t even had holidays and had to work several hours per day in internet cafés and Stefan tried to get most out of our first common summer holidays together.

Grega had the hardest job. He organized the whole trip and convinced the guys to have summer holidays in Croatia, so he had the responsibility to keep everyone happy and even to make us fall in love in his home country, Croatia.

So how did we do it? How did we manage to fall in love with this place and this summer?

Well Stefan and I usually started the morning in Bol’s way, getting a cafe latte, a freshly squeezed orange juice and still warm croissant in a local cocktail bar in center, called Varadero.

Since they have cozy chairs and a free Wi-Fi, all I had to do in order to get my two hours of peace to work on my laptop was to find a German newspaper (“Zeit” if possible) and Stefan was settled for the next couple of hours.

Later in the morning Elena and Samantha joined us at the coffee and we had some chat (or at least, Stefan and the girls had some talk, in proportional dependence of my emails-inflow).

Around noon guys woke up hungry as wolves, so they got into the local bakery near Varadero and usually grabbed a “burek”, local specialty – salty and delicious cheese pie and joined us for the morning coffee (although it was past noon already J).

So finally we were together but we soon separated again, since some of us wanted finally to go to the beach. So we went to our apartment to get the necessary items (swimsuits – of course different model than yesterday, towel, book, mobile and sun spray).

Guys were not yet interested for the beach (except Stefan), since they had “a tiger in their heads” and could not support heat in combination with walking …

After taking one or two swims, Stefan and I usually figured it out, that it is too hot and it would be best to find a shade (and a free Wi-Fi).

We grabbed a box of freshly cut fruit, which they sell on the Zlatni rat beach (with great success), and positioned ourselves cozily in another beach bar with free Wi-Fi.

So Stefan again got jealous at my best friend, Lenovo laptop, but found his peace quickly with his newspaper.

He says, for him the real holiday includes reading the newspaper and drinking coffee or juice in a lounge bar with chill-out music.

So I was safe as long as we hung out in those cool cocktail bars in Bol.

The rest of the band kept swimming on Zlatni rat beach, playing volleyball, getting tube rides for adrenalin and kept meeting new people.

Simon was quiet and alone most of the time on the beach, since he had some second thoughts about his job and was intensively thinking how to improve his working environment.

But didn´t lost his humor though, since we laughed almost 80 % of the time together and 70% of the laughter he was responsible for.

Afternoon some got to Aura (cocktail bar at the Zlatni rat beach) after beach party and had some fun there, while the rest started to think about the dinner.

Usually we made reservation in the restaurant Mali Raj (Little Paradise), since they have a really nice ambient, we could walk 15 minutes by the sea to reach it and they had some really fine local food.

After dinner Kevin and Simon went partying, and the rest of us chatted on the terrace with a glass of wine for some time, and then went to sleep.

Next day it happened all over again, only the stories from Kevin and Simon from the last night´s party were different…

Ah, it was one beautiful summer, relaxed, fun, sometimes exciting, with lots of great food, great company and great beach time!

I love summer 2012!
