Sport

The Island of Brac is a region full of outdoor and adrenaline-pumping activities. Hike up or mountain bike down the tallest peak in the Adriatic Islands: Vidova gora on Brac Island. Bol and its popular beaches are well known among the people, who love to windsurf and kite surf, since warm summer winds are ideal for those sports, as well as for diving. For those lacking some adrenalin, there are banana rides, tubes, water skiing, wake boarding and parasailing activities, as well as paddle boats, kayaks and SUP (stand up paddling) to rent. One of the latest trends is renting a smaller or motor boat with which you can experience Bol and its secluded beaches in a more intimate way.

Windsurfing and kite surfing in Bol

Bol is famous as an ideal spot for windsurfing and kite surfing. Sport centers in Bol provide courses with experienced instructors. Bol is a true surfers’ paradise and every year in May an international freestyle competition takes place in Bol. There are different surfing schools in Bol, and only one kite surfing school, Yellow cat. Bol is an ideal place for water sports because of the long season (from April to November), has low chances of bad weather and pleasant sea temperature (18’C to 23’C), allowing to perform water sports with medium suit (5 mm).

Diving

The Croatian coast is famous for its fabulous underwater landscapes, so many people start the first lesson in diving in Bol, at the Big Blue school, situated in a beautiful location where it is easy to access a diving boat. Bol has fabulous and abundant dive sites (caves, gorgons’ rich walls and ship wrecks) and since the Adriatic sea is also known for a great visibility, you can see minimum of 30 m underwater! Bol has more than 25 dive sites (including some of the most famous in the Adriatic). PADI and CMAS courses of all levels are a pure joy with friendly and professional diving staff! If you start a beginners’ course, you will spend each day around two or three hours at the center, training and diving. The rest of the day is free for the beach and exploring the island, which helps prevent an overload of information and stops it from feeling like a school. You can find more information at the Big Blue diving school or in Nautic Center Bol.

Sailing

There are local agencies who can organize your dream sailing experiences and you can even learn how to sail, so that your holidays are really active and exciting!

Tennis

You can play tennis on one of the 26 beautifully-situated clay tennis courts with mountains behind and sea views in the front. They are only 300 meters away from our Bol apartments – and you just might run into the famous Croatian tennis star Goran Ivanisevic, who won Wimbledon 2001, since he has his summer house in Bol. Some great tournaments took place in Bol too, like the WTA with the stars Ana Kournikova and Kim Clijsters. You can book a beginners or advanced tennis course there.

Beach volley

Near the Borak beach, half way from the center of Bol to the Zlatni rat beach, there is a beach volley court, which you can rent for an hour or two and try yourself with friends against some other team. There is no real vacation without jumping high and feeling the warm sand as you fall down to the ground!

Climbing

On the Brac Island there are over 100 rock climbing routes of different intensities. The climbing area in Lozisca (40 minutes’ drive from Bol), a village located in a simple stone glade, is a perfect place for beginner and intermediate climbers due to its variety of available routes. Climbs in this area give you some great views of the fascinating landscape: rolling hills, green valleys, and shimmering water can be seen all at once! The best company to contact for those activities is Aldura Sport, agency from Supetar, who will give you 3 hours of climbing as well as a lesson to make sure you are prepared.

Bike riding & Trekking

The trek consists of various terrains; at one point it may be rocky and steep while at other times the trail is low and sandy. The most popular hike on the island is from Vidova Gora (Standing at about 800 m high and also called Vitus Mount) to Blaca Hermitage. From the top, you will be able to have the most magical view of beaches, mountain slopes, and different Dalmatia Islands. It is also popular to mountain bike down the peak, which offers a thrilling way to see the scenery. Moreover, the island of Brac itself has an extensively developed network of white roads and single tracks for mountain biking. The paths have virtually no traffic, and the natural scenery of pine woods, olive fields, and secluded beaches combined with the mix of easy and challenging terrain makes this one picturesque adventure.
